What are the installation methods of fire extinguisher valves

Nov 06, 2024

As a key component of the fire extinguishing system, the installation method of the fire extinguisher valve directly affects the performance and safety of the fire extinguisher. From a professional perspective, there are various ways to install the fire extinguisher valve, which are mainly selected based on factors such as the type of fire extinguisher, the use environment, the installation conditions and relevant safety standards.

Threaded connection method
Threaded connection is the most common way to install fire extinguisher valves, which is suitable for small fire extinguishers, such as dry powder fire extinguishers and water-based fire extinguishers. When installing, first thoroughly clean the connection between the valve and the storage container to ensure that there are no impurities and oil stains. Then, use a special thread sealing material (such as polytetrafluoroethylene tape or sealant) to evenly apply it on the thread surface to enhance the sealing performance of the connection. Next, screw the valve clockwise into the connection port of the storage container until the specified tightening torque is reached. During this process, be careful to avoid excessive force to avoid damaging the thread or sealing material. This installation method is not only easy to operate, but also convenient for later disassembly and maintenance.

Flange connection method
Flange connection is suitable for large fire extinguishers or occasions with high sealing requirements. This method connects the valve to the storage container through a flange and bolts. During the installation process, first fix the flange to the connection port of the storage container and ensure that the plane of the flange fits tightly with the plane of the connection port. Then, align the valve flange with the storage container flange and tighten it with bolts and nuts. During the tightening process, the prescribed sequence and torque should be followed to gradually tighten to ensure the sealing and stability of the flange connection. The advantages of flange connection are its high strength, good sealing and easy disassembly, but the installation process is relatively complicated and requires the help of professional tools and techniques.

Clamp connection method
Clamp connection is an efficient and simple way to install fire extinguisher valves. This method connects the valve to the storage container through a clamp without the use of threads or flanges. During installation, first put the clamp on the connection port of the storage container, then insert the valve into the connection port and rotate it to the specified position. Finally, use a special clamp pliers to clamp the clamp to achieve a tight connection between the valve and the storage container. The advantages of the clamp connection method are that it is quick to install, easy to disassemble and does not require special tools. It is suitable for application scenarios with low sealing requirements.

Welding connection method
Welding connection is a permanent fire extinguisher valve installation method. This method directly connects the valve to the storage container by welding to form an integral structure. Before installation, the connection between the valve and the storage container needs to be cleaned and pre-treated to ensure that there are no impurities such as oil, rust, etc. Subsequently, special welding equipment and materials are used for welding. The advantages of welding connection are high strength, excellent sealing and low leakage. However, its installation process is relatively complicated and the cost is relatively high. Once completed, it cannot be easily disassembled or replaced.
