Inspectors must check the condition of the pressure gauge to ensure the extinguisher is capable of performing correctly in an emergency. Therefore, the inspection standards for the pressure gauge are a key part of fire safety checks.

2. Visual Inspection Standards for Pressure Gauges

The visual inspection is one of the basic checks for the fire extinguisher pressure gauge. Inspectors should first examine the gauge for visible damage, cracks, or other external defects. Any flaws on the surface can affect the gauge's accuracy and functionality. Therefore, if the gauge is damaged, it must be replaced immediately. Additionally, the inspector should ensure that the needle is not stuck or obstructed by any foreign objects, ensuring that it moves freely.

3. Checking the Needle Position on the Pressure Gauge

The position of the needle on the pressure gauge is one of the most direct indicators for inspection. Normally, the needle should be in the green zone, indicating that the internal gas pressure of the extinguisher is within the normal range. If the needle moves out of the green zone, especially into the red zone, it suggests that the gas pressure inside the extinguisher is too low or too high, which may prevent the extinguisher from functioning properly. Therefore, inspectors need to ensure the needle remains in the green zone, and further investigation is required if it deviates from this range.

4. Calibration and Accuracy Requirements for Pressure Gauges

In fire safety inspections, the calibration and accuracy of the pressure gauge are other important standards. Over time, the pressure gauge may experience accuracy deviations, which could lead to incorrect readings. Inspectors need to regularly calibrate the pressure gauge to ensure that the pressure readings are accurate. This is typically done using standard pressure testing equipment to check the extinguisher's internal pressure. If any discrepancies are found, the gauge should be recalibrated or replaced.

5. Checking the Operational Condition of the Pressure Gauge

In addition to visual and needle position checks, the operational condition of the pressure gauge should also be tested. This standard requires inspectors to perform simple pressure tests on the extinguisher to ensure the gauge reflects the internal gas pressure accurately. If the internal pressure of the extinguisher deviates from the normal range, the gauge should display these changes promptly. This test helps detect any faults in the pressure gauge and ensures that the extinguisher will function effectively in an emergency.

6. Handling of Damaged Pressure Gauges

If a damaged pressure gauge is found during the inspection, it must be dealt with according to relevant standards. Inspectors should immediately record the issue and notify maintenance personnel to replace or repair the gauge. According to fire safety regulations, any damaged pressure gauge should not be used.
